What I Expect from a Front-end Architecture

Review of the article: What I Expect from a Front-end Architecture

In September 2017, Wolfgang Gehner wrote a very interesting article about Front-end Architecture. He listed the things Front-end Architecture should monitor and take care of in order to make systems more maintainable and future-proof. As he put it so well, a front-end app should have a long life, maybe even around five years, which requires proper architectural care.

Nonetheless, it was written from the most common perspective of Front-end Architecture, which operates at the code level. In other words, it is based on the idea that selecting and configuring technologies, following coding best practices, and making smart choices about the technical aspects, will be enough to generate the results expected.

As you probably know by now, my vision for Front-end Architecture is that it should involve this and many other higher level concerns similar to Software Architecture. You can learn more about it in the free sample of my book “Professional Front-End Architecture“.

Gehner’s article is a great example of the critical mindset that all architects should have!
